The fan base is the ones that keep it alive and well! I highly recommend checking this game out. I'm so happy that this game was released, and I would love to see more passion projects like this come out! It goes to show that a franchise that hasn't released a mainline entry in over ten years isn't dead. The reason for the difficulty is because, in Brinkmann's words, "This mod is targeted at portal veterans, who are familiar with the concepts of the main series and want to expand their horizons." I think it succeeds at this for sure! This does exactly what you would think, sends you forward and back through time for some mind-melting fun! I have found, in my playthrough, this takes a lot of extra thinking and keeping track of where you leave pieces in time because if you move something in the past, it is there when you get to the future, but you can't do it the other way around because that messes with the whole space-time thing. Portal Reloaded expands on the mechanics of the original games by adding a third portal to solve puzzles with, the time portal. ![]() He had no real intention of fully releasing the MOD, but lucky for fans, it was released for free (if you own a copy of Portal 2) on Steam April 19, 2021! He built the whole MOD himself including the soundtrack which is a banger! PORTANIS, otherwise known as Jannis Brinkmann, started development on Portal Reloaded in 2014. Similar to a lot of games from around this time, a lot of the lore of the world can be found throughout Aperture Science headquarters with notes and hidden rooms revealing something more sinister.įast forward to 2021, after a decade since the last Portal game was released, we receive Portal Reloaded! Portal Reloaded was developed by a German modder called PORTANIS. ![]() GLaDOS leads you along through the test chambers filling you in on why you are doing this and what Aperture Science is all about. The game is very well written with its dry humor from the artificial intelligence running the tests named GLaDOS. This gun allows you to place two connected portals in two different places, allowing you to pass through them as if it was just a hole in the wall. The piece of tech that the game focuses on is the titular portal gun. Portal is a game franchise developed and published by Valve Corporation where the main premise is, you are a test subject in the labs of Aperture Science testing new technology and seeing how effective they are. Let's start off by talking about the Portal series. The story is disconnected from the events of the main series and doesn't alter the established canon.įor the purposes of Portal Reloaded, Chell will still be in her stasis sleep (or taking on the other test chambers) and the players will step into the Long Fall Boots of a previously unknown test subject and get to explore a sealed off part of the facility. The cake may be a lie, but I promise you, this is not! After a decade of waiting for a new Portal game, some fans took it upon themselves to give the masses what they wanted, and they absolutely did not disappoint. The game's story will be presented through more than 100 custom voice lines. The game’s difficulty has and will continue to be balanced through playtesting. The 25 new puzzles will start off easy enough so the players can grasp the concept and go on to become more involved as the players progress. Targeted at Portal veterans, Portal Reloaded's mechanics can seem complex at first, but the mod tries its best to explain them in a slow and engaging way with some relatively simple puzzles at the start of the game. You can simply download Portal Reloaded from the Steam store once it releases on April 19. Portal Reloaded will be completely free to own as long as you have a copy of Portal 2. ![]() On the modder's website clues us in on what the new game will be like. The mind-melting mod is the work of Jannis Brinkmann, who has been toiling away at it since 2014.

Well, what do we have on the left, seven plus one is eight, Let's say I had seven plus one is equal to three plus four. To one, which we know is not true, so this is notĮqual, this is not equal. This would be the same thing as saying that 10 is equal If I were to write this, is this true? Well, you might be tempted, hey, if I put a one (chuckles) and a zero together, it's gonna look like a 10,īut that's not, this is not how we do mathematics, this And this is also eight, so once again the equal sign is just saying that this, what we have on the left, is the same as what we have on the right. This is another way of writing eight, nine minus three plus two Side I have zero plus one minus one, well, one minus one is zero, so this is all going to be eight. So this, this, if I were to, if I were to compute it, that's equal to eight. See, nine minus three is six, plus two is eight, minus zero is eight. zero plus one minus one plus eight, is this true? Where are the best places to use a telescope? The best telescopes are those which can do all these things! It should be easy to set up and use, have a stable mount, provide clear images at high magnification (if desired), and offer enough light-gathering power for the objects of interest to be seen well. Further Links and SourcesĪ good telescope is one that you enjoy using. A third option is an astronomical camera such as those made by Celestron® or Meade®, which allows you to take pictures of celestial objects instead of looking directly at them through your eyepiece. Another option is the spotting scope or monocular these devices can be mounted on tripods and provide magnification without requiring that you look through two lenses like binoculars require (which makes them more comfortable). Binoculars allow you to see a larger area of sky at once than with a single eye, but they do not magnify objects as much as telescopes do. The most common alternative is the binoculars, which have been used for centuries and still remain popular today. There are many alternatives to telescopes. Somewhat fragile – if the lens get scratched, it will be slightly more difficult to view.It cannot be used for other purposes such as viewing documents or pictures, reading books and magazines, etc. Can only be used to view far sighted objects. However, if both scopes have different magnification, then they would appear very different sizes on screen, even though their actual size hasn’t changed at all! For example, you could have two scopes that both show Jupiter as being about half a degree across. Magnification PowerĪnother thing to consider is magnification power this determines how much bigger an object appears in your viewfinder than it does with just your eyes alone. A larger aperture means more light gets into the scope, which makes it easier to see faint objects like galaxies and nebulae (clouds of gas). The aperture, or how big the telescope’s lens is, will determine what you can see in your viewfinder and through your eyepiece. What to look for when comparing a telescope? Aperture CatadioptricĪ catadioptric telescope combines both lenses and mirrors in one telescope body this allows them to be smaller than either reflectors or refractors, but still gives good image quality with less chromatic aberration (color fringing). Reflector telescopes use mirrors instead of lenses and can be much larger than refractors because they don’t have to fit inside a tube like the lens does. It’s also an excellent tool for educators, scientists, or anyone else interested in studying our solar system and beyond! What are the types of telescopes? RefractorĪ refractor is a telescope that uses a lens to focus light onto an eyepiece that magnifies it for viewing. A telescope is a great way for beginners and experienced observers alike to enjoy astronomy. Telescopes help us learn more about what is out there in space around us – we have learned so much from telescopes over the years!Īnyone who wants to see more of the universe.A good telescope will allow you to view things like comets, asteroids and meteors up close as they pass by Earth or even land on our planet’s surface!.You can use it to look at planets, galaxies and other objects in space that are too far away for you to see without a telescope. It helps you see the stars better than with your naked eye.Telescopes can be used for many different purposes, including astronomy (observing stars), navigation (finding your way by looking at distant objects like mountains) and spying on people! Advantages and Applications What are the 5 benefits of a telescope? The simplest telescopes are just lenses, but more complex ones use mirrors to reflect light onto a lens or other mirror. Telescopes collect light from an object and focus it into the eye of the observer. The word “telescope” comes from Greek words meaning far-seeing or long-sighted, because telescopes make things look bigger than they really are. It does this by collecting light from the object and focusing it to form a magnified image of the object. ![]() A telescope is an instrument that makes distant objects appear closer. ![]() Her mother assumed that she would ask for it for a few days until she gets bored, but Cotler was determined about it.
